The scariest by far? The Samson Option. In the Bible, when Samson had his hair and beard cut off, he lost his strength… God returned to him one final burst of power, allowing the Israelite strongman to break the pillars of the temple the Philistines had him chained up in. The temple collapsed, and the Philistines died along with Samson.
Likewise, the Samson Option means for Israel to launch nukes when it badly loses a war to the point it stands to lose all territory. Like Samson and the Philistines, Israel would go down, but take down its enemies with it. It’s all, or nothing. Things would have to get pretty dire for Israel to consider the option, but still, the fact that it’s even on the table in the first place is… worth pondering.
Can’t really think of a more controversial doctrine than the Samson Option. It’s really something else entirely. Nuclear weapons truly are the world’s most terrifying thing and I dread the fact they even exist, as should any other sane person.
